"Azuma Oni" refers to the oni-gawara (demon tile) placed at the end of the large ridge (o-mune) of a hip-and-gable roof (yosemune-yane). Hip-and-gable roofs have ridges extending in four directions and intersecting, and the Azuma Oni is placed at the intersection of the large ridge and the corner ridges (both ends of the large ridge).
