Tea Ceremony: Two Chashaku (Tea Scoops) ① Wooden Tea Scoop: Ichii (Japanese Yew) This chashaku is made from Ichii wood. It is a wood considered to bring good luck. It is sometimes planted with the wish of achieving "Ichii" (first place) in studies or business. It is also treated as a good luck charm or talisman. This is a clean chashaku with no scratches or stains. Size: Length 18.5cm Kaisaki (scoop width) 11mm Paper box ② Chashaku with "御茶杓 (O-chashaku)" written on the box This one has some slight scuffs. I believe this chashaku is made from cedar wood. The inscription on the box appears to read "泉杉 (Izumi-sugi)" or "白川杉 (Shirakawa-sugi)". (Please note that I do not have much knowledge about cedar.)
