These geta (Japanese sandals) are full of handmade charm, unlike anything you'd see in a store. The insole, midsole, and sole are made of seven layers, including cowhide and urethane, with a total height of about 13mm. The heel area is further built up with four layers of cowhide, adding another 2-3mm for a total height of about 22mm. 5mm-thick urethane is sandwiched in to enhance cushioning. The body and thong are made of soft chrome-tanned leather, and the sole uses tannin-tanned leather from Tochigi Leather, which is highly regarded in the leathercraft industry. The red stitching is hand-sewn with waxed thread. As these are natural materials, there may be scratches on the leather surface and wrinkles characteristic of leather. To give the sole a natural feel, it has not been dyed. It has been polished for over two hours. The heel of the sole has leather of the same material as the sole nailed on for outdoor wear.
