UGUISS (uguisu), which debuted in 1983 on the EPIC label, consisted of members Yoshiyuki Sahashi (guitar), Toshifumi Shibata (keyboards), Jun Matsumoto (drums), Akira Ito (keyboards, synth bass), and Eiko Yamane (vocals). Although they produced their 2nd album the following year, 1984, they suddenly disbanded before its release. Since then, Sahashi, Shibata, and Matsumoto have been active as session musicians at the forefront of the music scene, building careers that have shaped the history of J-POP for the past 40 years, and it's no exaggeration to say so. Their masterpiece 1st album, which can be called their origin, features a sound brimming with the rich flavor of 70s and 80s Western music.
