It's a two-tiered, round jubako (tiered food container) in the shape of a tsuzumi (hourglass drum). The wash-red lacquer finish enhances the beauty of the jubako itself. The interior/bottom surface features suri-urushi (lacquer application technique) showcasing the skills of Kagawa lacquerware. It's perfect not only as a lunch box but also for entertaining guests or as a gift. The boundary between the bottom and the sides of the inside of the container is not a right angle but rounded and smoothly connected, making the rim easy to wash.
