Set of two Yunomi tea cups from Kaneko Kiln in Takeo City, Saga Prefecture. These were given to my family as commemorative goods for the 20th anniversary of a local izakaya that has since closed. Saga is known for its porcelain, famous in Arita and Imari, and its pottery, represented by Karatsu and Takeo. These Yunomi are made by Kaneko Kiln, known for their old Karatsu style. The simple, earthy Saga pottery has a rustic charm and is perfect for everyday use. It seems that Haruma Miura visited Kaneko Kiln for his "Made in Japan" coverage. He was also impressed by the works created using the "tataki-te" technique of Tatarayaki. While they are great for drinking tea, they also look lovely with wildflowers arranged in them.
