Sarreguemines ALPHAND - Sarreguemines Alphand Antique Plate, Compotier Footed Plate, Low Compotier, Cake Stand assiette sur pied Size: Approximately 22.5cm in diameter, 3.5cm in height Made between 1875 and 1918 Made in France This plate is from the ALPHAND series, featuring delicate flowers painted in shades of brown around the rim. I found it in an antique shop in the south of France. This is a rare piece of tableware in France, called an "Assiette sur pied" (footed plate). It is taller than a regular plate and can be used like a compotier, but it also provides stability as a cake plate, and I personally find it appealing because it's easy to store. Condition: There is overall discoloration and staining typical of antiques. There is one hairline crack. This is a very old item, over 100 years old.
