This is a mukouzuke (small bowl) I purchased from an antique shop about 20 years ago. It's a rare piece with a step in the body. It has two large windows. In the center is a gorgeous bouquet of flowers. It's slightly arranged with arabesque patterns. Large red beads are placed to connect the windows. Above and below the red beads are carefully drawn arabesque patterns. The contrast between the green background and the red beads is nice. It has a refined finish. The shop owner said it was from the end of the Edo period. No chips. There is a crack (nyu) on the rim. The shop owner said that the shape with the step in the body makes it prone to cracks.
