Vintage, discontinued product. *Tea caddy only, other items not included. With a background of floral arabesque, the round window features the characters for "May you live ten thousand years" (萬壽無疆). Around the mouth is a Ruyi cloud head pattern (Ruyi is the name of a Buddhist tool, meaning "as you wish"). Around the base is a decorated lotus petal pattern. The yellow glaze of the base color brightens the whole. The arabesque pattern is also voluminous, with bat designs and stylized longevity characters, etc., making this item full of auspicious motifs. Furthermore, the color is also special. Yellow is considered a color of high virtue in China (from the Song Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, its use was restricted to the emperor). Yellow is considered the same color as gold, and it seems to be used even now as a color symbolizing wealth and authority. ◉"May you live ten thousand years" (萬壽無疆) comes from a verse in the "Book of Songs" (one of the Five Classics), the oldest poetry collection in China, a poem about agricultural affairs in the region. It is read in Japanese as "banju kyōri nashi" and is a phrase wishing for longevity.
