This is an old Wajima-nuri lacquerware bowl. It's a piece with a graceful crane maki-e design on a time-honored Hinode (sunrise) lacquer background. While the crane design is a classic, this one captures the moment the crane lets out a sharp cry, giving it a unique and interesting feel. There are minor edge scratches and cracks as shown in the images. The size is 13.4 cm in diameter and 9 cm in height.
