I made a camisole by unraveling a Meisen kimono. The original kimono was in very beautiful condition. (Photos 11, 12, 13) Since Meisen can fade when washed with water, I only disinfected it with a high-temperature iron. It's a color that might be called yellow-red, a deep color like the evening sky. The large, kaleidoscope-like flowers are very beautiful. The color scheme is monochromatic, giving it a calm and gentle atmosphere. It has a moderate luster, and the firmness characteristic of Meisen is also lovely. It's a slightly thick and sturdy fabric. To prevent the overall shape from appearing bulky, I used thin elastic only in the back yoke to create a clean silhouette. I added slits, so I think you'll be able to wear it comfortably. Kimono made of silk is very precious. It's difficult to unravel a kimono, but it's wonderful to be able to enjoy the feel of Japanese fabric in everyday life. It's also a good point that you can enjoy the unique colors and combinations of Japan. I enjoy making Western clothes as a hobby, specializing in straight stitching. I remake old kimonos and furoshiki (wrapping cloths) such as Tsumugi, Meisen, and Komon. Since it's handmade by an amateur, there may be thread holes, remaining threads, small scratches, and fold lines that cannot be removed by ironing.
