This is a Wedgwood Queensware (hard earthenware) Mayfield trio, manufactured from 1962 to 1969. The Mayfield series features ruby (red) and gray (blue-gray) accents on the handles and plate rims, and this is the popular ruby (red) version. This series was designed by Robert Minkin, the designer of Wild Strawberry and Ice Rose. The delicate red wildflowers painted on the cups and saucers vary in size and shape on the front and back of the cups and on the left and right sides of the saucers. The ivory base color and the ruby color of the plate rims and cup handles create a beautiful accent in this lovely trio. Although this item is approximately 50 years old, it is a beautiful piece in excellent condition. Photo 9) There is a very slight cup abrasion mark in the center of the saucer, barely visible when reflected in the light. Photo 6) There are almost no scratches on the plate, and it is glossy and shiny. Photo 7) There is ink transfer under the glaze on the lower right of the flower pattern on the plate, a manufacturing flaw. The cups are in particularly good condition. While in beautiful condition, please consider that this is a vintage item and may have characteristics such as black spots, pinholes, printing misalignments, surface irregularities, ink spots, air bubbles, and kiln marks that are typical of antiques and vintage items.
