This is an obi締め (decorative sash tie) for formal wear. It's very thick and suitable for furisode (long-sleeved kimono). Originally, there are some red threads woven into it. There is some wear and tear, but there don't seem to be any noticeable flaws. A slightly rougher type of thread is used inside. It's a round braid of off-white and gold threads.
