This is a highly-regarded gi-bu solid silver model from Miyazawa Flutes, one of Japan's leading flute makers. The headjoint, body, and keys are all solid silver. This model is from the time when the factory was located in Asaka City, Saitama Prefecture, not in Nagano Prefecture. Although it is an old model, it has been overhauled and is in a condition where the lowest notes can be played easily. It resonates well. Some of the vintage Miyazawa flutes have headjoints made by Mr. Yoshiteru Akiyama, the founder of the current Akiyama Flute, who was working at Miyazawa Flute at the time. The back of the lip plate is engraved with "Y.Akiyama", and this flute is also made by Mr. Akiyama, making it a model with excellent sound and ease of playing. Because it is solid silver, the tone is more mellow compared to flutes made of nickel silver.
