It is very elastic, soft, and fluffy. Yet, it is a very strong yarn. Because it is hand-spun yarn, there are variations in thickness. Each skein has one or no knots. It will be sent in three skeins of about 8-9g each. The yarn is secured with a knot. A small bobbin with about 1g of yarn will be included as a bonus for test knitting. The following is an explanation of Jamieson & Smith's Shetland wool: "Our Shetland combed tops are loved by hand spinners, felters, and manufacturers of the highest quality textile products using the finest Shetland wool. The wool used for Shetland combed tops is hand-selected each season from the finest fleeces, taken from the neck and shoulder areas of the sheep. The wool is carded (coarsely combed) and then combed (finely combed) to separate the long and short fibers. Combing aligns the fibers in parallel, preparing them for spinning.
