This is a rare New York Bach 6C trumpet mouthpiece. It belonged to Jimmy Maxwell, who was active in swing jazz. While there is no certificate, there's no doubt it's a good piece. Some of you may know Mr. Maxwell's name from music instruction books. When I acquired it, the plating was already worn in places, so I had the rim top gold-plated with a simple plating process. The shank end is also very clean and in excellent condition. Even today, it's not difficult to find New York Bach trumpets from the Bronx or Mount Vernon eras, but because there was more variation in quality compared to modern instruments, finding a good one becomes increasingly difficult. This means a piece that was released by a player and hasn't been altered after they let it go. This mouthpiece has the characteristic New York Bach sound, unlike those from Elkhart onwards, with a deep, slightly coarse tone. New York Bach mouthpieces are becoming increasingly difficult to find. If you're looking for one, how about this?
