One is normal, and the other has a sole about 1cm thicker. I buy shoes based on the length from my heel to my toes. The MOZ mouton boots didn't hurt my feet even with thick socks, and I could wear them comfortably with both thick and regular socks. Personally, I didn't feel any stress with the thickness of the boa, the opening not being too wide or too narrow, and taking them on and off.
