Established to commemorate the 2600th anniversary of the founding of Japan (Imperial Ordinance No. 517, July 26, 1940). Since the China Incident Commemorative Medal, which was established next, was abolished without being issued or awarded, it effectively became the last commemorative medal. Made of aluminum bronze, 3 cm in diameter, with an outer box and ribbon. Both the medal and the box are in good condition with little damage.
