It is a nationalistic work inspired by traditional Japanese events, consisting of four movements: "Bon Odori" (Bon Dance), "Tanabata" (Star Festival), "Enrei" (Performance), and "Nebuta." At the time, 19-year-old Ifukube was studying forestry at Hokkaido University while also teaching himself composition. This piece was written for the Spanish pianist George Copeland, but it was not premiered due to the Spanish Civil War. It was first performed in 1938 when it was selected for the Venice International Festival of Contemporary Music, which brought Ifukube international recognition. Although it is quite difficult, it is often performed in concerts. Later, in 1991, the composer arranged it for orchestra, becoming the "Japanese Suite for Orchestra." ● Stored on the bookshelf.
