It was given to me as part of a gift when my high school teacher, who recently passed the 8th dan, retired. He said, "Hardly any of you are still doing kendo, so I'll give it to you, lol." Originally, it was a very high-quality do that came with a set priced around 1 million yen, but it was sturdy and useful, but it started to feel heavy, so he stopped using it and kept it in storage. Therefore, it hasn't been used much, and the condition is very good. It's an old piece, but there's no wobbling, which is common with these types of stands, and it's in unbelievably good condition considering its age. The chest also uses hand-rubbed kurozan leather, a traditional chest, and as you can see, it's beautifully crafted by skilled artisans. It's not too hard and has a moderate amount of elasticity. It's quite robust, even among bamboo dos. Even more imposing than Asano's 43-panel do, lol.
