Jet Tone Maynard Ferguson Model The following is quoted from Net-Brass: -------------------------------------------------- This model is a reproduction of the old Jet Tone. It is the signature model of Maynard Ferguson, the "Boss" of the trumpet world. It is a model similar to the old Jet Tone MF model, but with a rim design closer to the Holton MF model that Ferguson used before Jet Tone. The inner diameter of the rim is slightly smaller than a Bach 12. The rim is flat and thick. The outer diameter of the rim feels slightly smaller than a Bach 12. The rim edge into the cup, a characteristic of the Ferguson model, is smooth. It has a shallow and narrow V-cup. The throat is slightly wider than a #27 (3.66mm). The straight part of the throat is quite long. The backbore is about halfway between a Warburton 3 and 4. The inside of the shank end, about 2.0mm, has a smooth slicing finish like a Schilke 14A4a. It has good response and a warm sound. As you put air into it, it produces a brilliant "stratospheric" sound that makes you feel like you're listening to Ferguson of the past. It is warm, but it has a solid core sound. Recommended for high-note players who aim to be like Ferguson. -------------------------------------------------- There are some thin scratches on the shank due to use, but there are no major scratches, dents, or plating wear that would interfere with playing.
