Ushikubi Tsumugi has a unique texture that combines both Tsumugi and silk fabrics. It is beautiful, strong, and fits the skin well, and is a traditional craft characterized by its elegant and rustic folk art taste. It originates from the place name of Ushikubi Village (present-day Hakusan Village, Ishikawa Prefecture) in the Hakusan foothills, where it is produced. It is characterized by being woven using thick, knotted tama-ito (silk thread) made from the tama-mayu (double cocoons) created by two silkworms.
