This is a small container made with Yakumo-nuri lacquerware. Yakumo-nuri is a traditional craft of Shimane Prefecture. It uses various colored lacquers, mother-of-pearl, gold and silver powder to create gorgeous patterns, and is finished by layering natural lacquer. The characteristic is that the lacquer becomes transparent over time, and the patterns emerge.
