Snowy Owl Photo This is a postcard-sized print. The word "snow" will not be printed. The photo in the frame is a sample. The photo itself is for sale. In winter, I used to wander around the nearby mountains on skis, walking, climbing, and skiing down, while looking for birds (especially Snowy Owls). After wandering through the forest for about three hours and thinking about going down the mountain, a Snowy Owl landed on a fallen tree nearby. I took the photo while wondering if it would fly away before I could press the shutter (I always feel this way when taking pictures of Snowy Owls). They are usually on high branches, so I'm mostly looking up and seeing their backsides. The downward angle is a rare perspective. However, after moving from Hokkaido to Saitama, I found it was easier to see Long-tailed Tits in the nearby park than Snowy Owls. I wondered why, and realized that the trees in the park are shorter, and I could get closer to them compared to the mountains with many larch trees where I used to wander. Speaking of which, Snowy Owls can also be observed nearby in residential parks and street trees. I remember thinking, "Why don't the students waiting for the bus at the bus stop notice the Snowy Owl right next to them? They shouldn't be looking at their smartphones!" But I couldn't just suddenly shout, "There's a Snowy Owl!"
