It operates on two AA batteries. I have tested its operation with my own batteries. The reason for the "as-is" condition is that I haven't been able to confirm whether it can take pictures properly because there is no film. Therefore, it is being sold as junk. Other than that, the exterior is old, so there may be some minor scratches and dirt, but there are no noticeable scratches or dents, and it's relatively clean. The flash extends and retracts smoothly, and the film door and battery door open and close smoothly. It might be good for a collection or as interior decor. The case has some visible dirt, but it's well-made, and there are no signs of tearing or damage.
