【Product Description】 Shinano Concert Guitar SJ-30 Shinano Gakki Top Solid Wood 550mm Scale Mini Guitar This guitar is from Shinano Gakki, a company that existed in Nagano from the 1960s to the 70s. Shinano Gakki was originally a subcontractor for Zen-On and became independent, producing mainly popular models of classical guitars until Yamaha acquired them in the 80s. This guitar is likely a model from the early 70s. At the time, their lineup included the Grand Shinano (GS) and Shinano Concert (SC) series, with the Concert series being the higher-end models. (SC-20~) This is a rare junior version of the higher-end Concert series. The model name SJ-30 suggests that it was a 30,000 yen model at the time. The top is solid wood, likely cedar. The sides and back are also nice rosewood. The scale length is 550mm. Although there is almost no documentation available now, and the manufacturer is often overlooked, holding one of these guitars makes you realize how well they were made. I used this as a mini-guitar for sofa playing, with a relaxed regular tuning or as a Terz guitar (tuned up a step and a half = capo on the 3rd fret), and it was always within reach as a nylon-string guitar. However, I have too many guitars now, so I'm letting this one go.
