Thank you for viewing. This is a calligraphy inkstone. It's a glass inkstone, a work of art. It's a piece by Kyoichiro Kawakami, a leading figure in contemporary glass art. It looks a bit like an ashtray, but it has a wonderful design. In addition to being an inkstone for appreciation, it can also be used for vermilion ink, sutra copying, kana calligraphy, and more. It was purchased at a solo exhibition at Wako Department Store in Ginza. I'm letting it go to organize my belongings. Please understand that it has been stored by a private individual.
