This is a handmade pedal built point-to-point, based on the circuit of the EarthQuaker Devices Black Ash. While following the original design and selecting various components, the following main features have been added: * A Bias control has been placed on the outside of the enclosure to adjust the voltage applied to the transistors. The related constants have been slightly changed to expand the adjustment range. Counterclockwise produces a sputtering, rough distortion, while clockwise creates a smooth, sustained distortion with increased output. * A Bottom control has been added to gently adjust the presence of low frequencies. This was implemented using a simple circuit seen in the fuzz DIY community. * A Mode switch has been added to slightly increase the gain (the effect of the Bias control becomes less noticeable when ON). I am personally satisfied with the result, but there may be room to feel that adding these features has compromised the original design. This is not intended to be a faithful reproduction, so please keep that in mind when considering it. 125B size (approx.) 122mm x 66mm x 39.5mm Dust caps are installed on all potentiometers to prevent dust from entering. Please use a DC9V center-negative power supply or a 9V battery. There may be scratches or paint unevenness due to the manufacturing or use process. Also, be careful as continuous contact with rubber materials may cause the paint film to dissolve. True bypass.
