Among Ogatsu stones, those quarried from Odomariyama are called Odomari Stone. The history of Ogatsu Suzuri is said to date back 600 years, and Date Masamune is said to have praised this high-quality stone and made inkstones. ○ This work has a lid beautifully split along the stone grain, and the inkstone itself is crafted with a circular hill and sea carved within a square. The unique stone patterns of Ogatsu stone, with about 10 lines running horizontally from left to right across the hill and sea, are beautifully visible. Weighing over 1.5kg, and with a lid, the ink dries slowly, and the ink retention is good, making it easy to use.
