This celebratory envelope is made from handmade Japanese paper (washi) with banana fibers incorporated. The banana fibers are likely from the peel or stem. The surface is relatively smooth, while the back has many fibers visible. It's somewhat translucent, but being handmade, it has thickness and strength, with a slightly cloth-like texture and deckled edges. This washi paper is a bit expensive, hence the price. Five strands of pearl white mizuhiki (decorative cord) are tied in a pine knot. *Please note: There is a slight indentation from the manufacturing process (see photo 3). Therefore, it is slightly discounted. This unique washi paper makes this a special celebratory envelope that won't be like anyone else's, perfect for special occasions.
