This is a custom-made trivet made of cast iron. It is designed to be placed on top of your existing gas stove's built-in trivet. It provides height to prevent boil-overs when using the pilot light or low flame, and stabilizes small pots like milk pans and 1-quart pots to prevent wobbling. ⬛︎Material: Cast iron Cast iron is made by pouring molten metal into a mold. It is used for durable items such as car parts and manhole covers. To add durability and corrosion resistance, it undergoes a galvanizing process, commonly known as "hot-dip galvanizing." This involves dipping rust-prone iron or steel into a bath of molten zinc at 450 degrees Celsius and then cooling it. The surface has a rough finish, providing rust resistance, like a zinc coating, similar to how a Pocky chocolate is coated. After years of exposure to rain, a white powder may appear, which is zinc rust (white rust). (White rust does not occur with indoor use.) This is what is known as the plating peeling off. The zinc plating sacrifices itself to protect the iron and steel from rusting. It has a stepped design to fit any manufacturer's stove and can also be used on tabletop stoves as shown in the photo.
