It's slightly see-through. "Yuki Tsumugi," a silk plain weave, is mainly produced in Yuki City, Ibaraki Prefecture, and Oyama City, Tochigi Prefecture. "Yuki Chijimi" was a crepe silk fabric that once boasted a production volume exceeding that of "Yuki Tsumugi." The cool, smooth feel created by tightly twisted yarns was perfect for single-layer garments and was highly valued. In the 1950s, when "Yuki Tsumugi" was designated as an Important Intangible Cultural Property, the production shifted to "Yuki Tsumugi," and today it is considered a rare "phantom silk fabric."
