This is a piece of indigo-dyed cotton boro. It is estimated to be from the Meiji to Taisho eras. It is believed to have been used for futon covers, etc. This indigo dye was collected in Kaga. The touch is wonderfully gentle, with the feel of hand-spun yarn, and it gives a sense of having been used for a long time. There are considerable patches, tears, frays, damage, and stains, but the clear indigo color makes it a refreshing piece.
