I found this in my family's storehouse. I added the string later. Depending on how you strike it, it makes a very high-pitched sound. The resonance also takes a while to stop. It has a cracked pattern. Something that looks like kanji is written on it, but I can't read it. The age is unknown. I don't know what category it belongs to, so I've listed it as a wind chime.
