Originally, it was the face of a saddlebag called a "khoorjin" used to carry goods on camels, which has been repurposed as a rug. The central "gul" motif is wonderfully tribal and cool, and the embroidery on one of the kilim ends is irresistible. The pile is short, giving it a smooth and soft texture. Its size makes it a perfect mini rug for placing under a table or as a plant stand. This is a 40-year-old vintage rug.
