☺ Overhauled and guaranteed to work ☺ ★★★ Genuine and Authentic Guarantee ★★★ This is a ladies' wristwatch, the "Calendette," manufactured by the renowned Swiss company MOVADO in the 1940s, featuring a day-date display. This is a rare piece, as it includes the original cosmetic box and belt from the time. Those familiar with antique watches will know that MOVADO, up until the 1960s, was a complete manufacturer, producing highly accurate timepieces. The fact that prestigious jewelers like Tiffany and Cartier commissioned them to manufacture some of their watches demonstrates their advanced technical capabilities. The Calendette was released as a women's version of the men's triple calendar wristwatch, "CALENDOGRAF." I believe MOVADO was the only company at the time to equip a small, hand-wound movement for women with the complex mechanism of displaying both the date and day. Only a select few could afford such a luxurious watch during the post-war era, which was still in turmoil. The body is made of 14K/585 pink gold. Based on the manufacturing country's signs and engravings, it can be determined that this was shipped as a high-end line for North America at the time. The diameter of the body is approximately 21.5 mm. The dial has a silver two-tone finish, with a minute ring and indexes, and the hour and minute hands are pink gold. The date is displayed using a pointer date method, with a red arrow at the tip of the hand pointing to the blue date. The day of the week is displayed in red in a small window at the 12 o'clock position. There is a button on the left side of the case specifically for fast-forwarding the day and date. The original brown cord bracelet and the clasp made of 14K solid gold are also included, but for ease of use, it has been replaced with an aftermarket pink gold-filled bracelet. The bracelet is unused and was manufactured around the same time as the watch. I selected a straight-line design to match the design of the lugs (the base of the belt), but it can be changed to another one depending on the size. With the attached bracelet, it can accommodate wrists up to 165 mm. The watch is almost 80 years old, but it is in the best condition for a vintage watch, with no noticeable damage. It was originally part of a family collection, so it has been stored under proper management and well-maintained. The last overhaul was in January 2025.
