I've been studying the I Ching (Book of Changes) for nearly twenty years. I've read almost all of the commentaries considered classics, and while I'm amazed by the variety of interpretations, I haven't found many that I fully agree with. This book presents my own interpretation, drawing on those various interpretations. There are many places where I've interpreted the text quite differently from the original meaning, which is why I've titled it "Choshaku: Decoding the I Ching (Book of Changes)." "Choshaku" is an abbreviation of "cho-kaishaku," meaning "super-interpretation." The original text of the I Ching was written over two thousand years ago, and many passages are difficult to understand when applied directly to the modern world. Therefore, I've boldly rephrased the text to make it accessible to contemporary readers.
