Siberian Story A literary work by Shiro Hasegawa, based on his experiences as a prisoner of war in Siberia. I only became aware of Mr. Shiro Hasegawa recently. I believe it was in 2024. I learned about Mr. Shiro Hasegawa through "Siberian Story." I was shocked by his unique writing style and prose. Mr. Shiro Hasegawa was interned in Siberia for five years, from the end of the war in 1945. In other words, he was deprived of his freedom as a prisoner of the Soviet army. "Siberian Story" recounts his experiences during that time. As it was an internment experience, it must have been painful, difficult, and hard. In fact, it is written that terrible things were happening. Yet, Mr. Shiro Hasegawa is somehow detached, calm, and transparent. He is transparent, mysterious, and even exudes humor. I think I was shocked by that "way of being." And "Siberian Story" became one of my favorite books.
