Tang Dynasty Inkstone (with engraved design, in inkstone box) This is believed to be a Chinese Duan inkstone purchased by my mother, who practiced calligraphy until about 25 years ago. Size: Inkstone: Width 112mm, Thickness unknown, Length 180mm Inkstone Box: Width 128mm, Thickness 42mm, Length 197mm Weight: Inkstone with box 1015g, Inkstone box lid 219g The inkstone fits perfectly into the inkstone box and cannot be removed, so the thickness and weight of the inkstone alone could not be measured. The inkstone has beautiful engravings and natural stone patterns (photos 2-7), and the black lacquered inkstone box is also beautiful (photos 1, 14-16). A price tag from the time of purchase was affixed to the back of the inkstone box (photo 13). There is slight staining on the surface of the inkstone (photos 8-10) and some damage to the surface of the inkstone box (photo 14), but it is unused and has been stored in a calligraphy box (photo 17), so I believe the overall quality and artistic value are preserved.
