Hank Mobley, a popular tenor saxophone player who left his mark on the history of modern jazz. He was very active during the hard bop era and left behind many famous performances and albums on prestigious labels such as Blue Note. This album was recorded in 1956 for the famous Savoy label and fully conveys Mobley's charm. It includes sessions by two groups of members, featuring first-rate musicians of the time such as Donald Byrd (tp), John LaPorta (as), Ronnie Ball, Horace Silver (p), Doug Watkins, Wendell Marshall (b), and Kenny Clarke (ds). They deliver a wonderful performance with a strong bebop feel. Especially memorable are the beautiful ballad "I Married An Angel," with Donald Byrd's resonant trumpet and Hank Mobley's rich tenor saxophone playing.
