Along with Jippensha Ikku's "Tōkaidōchū Hizakurige," it is considered a masterpiece of humorous literature in Edo literature. The work humorously depicts the daily lives and human relationships of the common people of Edo, set in the public bathhouses for men and women, and the barbershops where men's hair was styled. "Ukiyo-toko" is also the basis for a classical Rakugo performance. ▶ "Yūhōdō Bunko" A collection of classical Japanese literature Includes works from the Heian period to the Edo period Total of 121 volumes Published from Taishō 1 (1912) to 4 (1915) Tetsuzō Tsukamoto, a scholar of Japanese literature, served as the editor-in-chief, and Osamu Miura, the founder of Yūhōdō, was also involved.
