This is a two-piece Nagoya obi that I had altered by a kimono shop from an open-style obi I received from a relative. I have never used it since it was made into a two-piece, and it is in overall very beautiful condition (the condition before I received it is unknown). It features a soft, crepe fabric in a deep green color with a gorgeous floral pattern dyed onto it. The flowers, mainly in red, white, and pink, are depicted in a three-dimensional composition, creating a beautiful contrast with the deep green background for an elegant design. Large flowers are placed on the taiko (drum) part, and smaller flowers are on the mae-obi (front band). It has the soft texture characteristic of dyed obis and is perfect for casual to semi-formal outfits such as komon, tsumugi, and iromuji. Because it is a two-piece, it is easy to put on, and I think you can use it widely, from everyday wear to slightly more formal occasions. When I had it made into a two-piece, I paid close attention to the design for ease of use. By placing the ties lower, the bottom of the obi can be held securely, and the ties can be easily inserted under the obi. The obi fabric is soft and light, so I think it will be comfortable to wear for long periods. The dimensions are shown below, but please forgive any errors as they are amateur measurements.
