[7] Condition: New and Beautiful [8] Shape: Nomentsu-gata (Rough-surfaced Inkstone), Smooth Inkstone Rim ◉ This is a new, unused work by the master craftsman Yuiseki Shimoi of Akama Suzuri. The Akama Suzuri, with its unique reddish hue, is arguably the only one of its kind in Japan. It is characterized not only by its color but also by its fine, hard, and dense stone quality and beautiful stone surface. The craftsman was honored with an exhibition by the then Emperor and Empress in 1996, and his work was purchased by the Imperial Household Agency. Four pale malachite-green stars, each about 3mm in size, are evenly spaced on the inkstone surface, making it unique. Furthermore, malachite-green stars are also sporadically visible on the inkstone hill. The characteristic crimson color of Akama stone is very beautiful. The rim is perfectly flat, and the sharpness of the rim's edge is such that it could cut your fingertip if touched. The rim of the inkstone has been carefully finished to be smooth. The underside of the inkstone is deeply engraved with magnificent characters, clearly demonstrating the master's skill and confidence. It is a work preferred by women, with a beautiful form and a moderate size, suitable for both use and display.
