Otherwise, there are no cracks, chips, or damage such as scratches or minor imperfections, and it is a vintage item in good condition with a glossy finish. What is [crazing]? Ceramics are fired at high temperatures after a glaze is applied to the base. At that time, the glaze melts and becomes a glass-like layer, covering the base. After firing, the temperature of the ceramic decreases, and the degree of shrinkage differs between the base and the glaze. If this difference is large, the glaze layer will crack and harden. There are no cracks in the ceramic base itself, and it is not a damaged item. This is called [crazing] and is often seen in antiques and vintage items.
