In the Shimabara district and geisha quarters, we use usuzumi (pale ink) and neri-zumi (ink with a viscous consistency) for writing on makimono (scrolls) and calligraphy. Japanese ink has a strong black color, and by mixing it with usuzumi, elegant and understated characters are created. To use, first dissolve the usuzumi, then grind the neri-zumi to a suitable consistency. Please enjoy the world of Japanese aesthetics. Brand new, unused.
