This is a set of two Imari-yaki kinrande (gold brocade) choko (sake cups) with a street pattern, made from the end of the Edo period to the Meiji era. They have depth, so they are perfect for sake, and also cute as small mukozuke (side dishes). Phoenixes in a cracked ice pattern, ferns in red, and several other patterns are carefully painted on the small choko. The continuous flower pattern or wheel pattern painted in sometsuke (blue and white) on the inside rim is also rare, and I think it was specially ordered. Perfect for table coordination to decorate special occasions such as New Year's, celebrations, and parties.
