The bumpy surface of the lid, etc., may be due to the firing process or long-term storage; I'm not sure. There are also some scratches and stains visible inside the pot from storage, but it is unused. It comes with a rice paddle, instructions, and a trivet. Although it is unused, there are some stains and wrinkles on the rice paddle bag and the trivet packaging due to home storage.
