Both of these two recordings are the best of Chopin's waltz performances, so I want to keep both discs. François, Rubinstein, Ashkenazy, and Luisada are all wonderful, but they can't compare to Lipatti's two recordings. However, since it is a monaural recording, the Lipatti version should be considered in a class of its own. Even the emotions of sadness and anger that Chopin put into his beautiful sound come through from Lipatti's refined performance. It's wonderful no matter how many times you listen to it. Although it is a monaural recording, it is always ranked first in the selection of famous songs and famous records, and there is no one who would object to it being an immortal masterpiece.
