"Gold" is purely for decoration. For household tableware that you use yourself, it is not always necessary to repair it with gold. Finishing with lacquer alone is also a traditional technique. However, the Kintsugi that is generally imagined is likely the gorgeous Kintsugi with metal colors applied.
