EasyCard is a convenient card that can be used on public transportation in Taiwan. It costs 100 NTD (about 500 yen) to issue. It can be used not only on trains and buses but also at convenience stores, and is similar to Japan's PASMO or Suica cards. Taiwan's MRT (subway) receives subsidies from the government, so it's very cheap (about 20-25 NTD, or about 100-125 yen, within Taipei), and the lines are color-coded, making it easy to understand and convenient for sightseeing. It can also be used on the MRT from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport Terminal 2 to Taipei Main Station (160 NTD), so you can buy it before you travel and charge it at the station for efficient travel.
